About The Host

Ibrahim "Jordy" Shifau

Jordy's roots may be in Male, but his connection to Horsburgh Atoll runs deep, with his grandfather hailing from Fehendhoo and his grandmother and father from Goidhoo. In 2015, owing to his heritage, Jordy was awarded a plot of land on the pristine West Beach in Goidhoo. It was then that he knew he had the perfect opportunity to bring his vision to life—a guesthouse that would offer a haven for travelers seeking a unique experience in this tropical paradise.

Driven by his entrepreneurial spirit and inspired by the idyllic location, Jordy embarked on a journey to create something special. However, before Olive Goidhoo could open its doors, it needed a name that would reflect the essence of the island and resonate with its simplicity. Seeking inspiration, Jordy turned to his three-year-old daughter, who joyfully named the guesthouse after her favorite food, "Olive."

Olive Goidhoo finds itself nestled in a region overflowing with unique attributes and natural wonders. The island boasts a surprisingly large size compared to its modest population, creating an unparalleled sense of spaciousness and privacy. The local area boasts a vibrant ecosystem, adorned with mineral and freshwater lakes that enhance its distinctive character. In fact, this area is home to the highest biodiversity and largest mangrove forest within Baa Atoll, and it boasts one of the largest mangrove ecosystems in the entire nation.
