Since 2022, Goidhoo Island has been home to the prestigious Red Bull Wind Riders event. The Red Bull Wind Riders event is a national kitesurfing competition in the Maldives. It brings together 60 top riders at Goidhoo Island and features three main competitions: Twin-Tip Racing, Freestyle, and Big-Air.  Riders rack up points to win the title of Red Bull Wind Rider. 

Meet Goidhoo’s Kitesurfing Champions: Hantey and Raaif

Hassan "Hantey" Mahir and Raaif Shaneez, the top two kitesurfing champions, proudly call Goidhoo home. These celebrated athletes are among many professional kitesurfers from the island who have attracted sponsorships from major brands. Renowned companies such as Duotone and Slingshot sponsor the water sports athletes living on Goidhoo.  Goidhoo is home to numerous other pro-level kitesurfers, further elevating the island's status as a premier destination for the sport.
